Duration

2 months

Music creation has traditionally been the domain of professionals with access to complex tools, leaving fans and aspiring artists on the sidelines. Jammify set out to change that by creating a platform where Artists and their Fans could collaborate, remix, and co-create in an intuitive, accessible environment.

User Research

We conducted interviews with 10 artists and 10 music enthusiasts to understand their needs and pain points.

What we learned

  • There is a strong demand for platforms enabling deeper fan-artist interaction and creative collaboration.

  • Fans seek platforms that allow them to remix and create their own versions of songs easily.

  • Gamified spaces are essential to make the creative process engaging and accessible.

As Lead Product Designer, I designed the Artist Profile, Dashboard, Playlist Creation Process, and Library pages. My responsibilities included user research, business analysis, and guiding the design process from ideation to prototype. I led competitive analysis, wireframing and prototyping. By redesigning navigation and user flows based on feedback, I increased user engagement by 30% and improved task completion rates by 25%

Feature Prioritization

After the ideation phase and addressing key user challenges, we prioritized features based on their potential impact and alignment with user needs and business objectives.

Remix Board

How might we create an intuitive music editing platform that connects artists and fans?

Competitive Analysis

We analyzed other platforms to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for differentiation:

  • TikTok: Empowers fans to create and share music-related content but lacks tools for direct collaboration with artists.

  • Splice: Offers professional music creation tools but isn’t tailored for casual fans or gamified experiences.

  • BandLab: Focuses on collaboration but doesn’t connect fans and artists directly.

  • Rocksmith+: Demonstrates the power of gamification but is limited to music learning, not creation or remixing.

Testing and Iteration

Usability testing was conducted in two phases—first with a lo-fi prototype and then with a hi-fi version. This iterative process was crucial for refining the platform based on user feedback.

A 30% boost in user interaction and a 25% increase in remix completion rates.

  • Users struggled with navigation to find essential features.

  • Users had difficulty understanding how to engage with the remix board.

Lo-Fi Testing:

Users appreciated the design but suggested improvements in navigation and clarity.

Hi-Fi Testing:

After implementing feedback, engagement increased by 30%, and remix completion rates rose by 25%.

  • Users were unsure how to share remixes and receive feedback.

Challenge:

Simplifying navigation for ease of use, without losing the advanced features that users need.

Solution:

Designing Jammify was challenging because we had to make the platform easy for casual users while providing the depth needed for professionals. By using user feedback and focusing on design, we balanced both needs.

90% of users preferred Jammify over other platforms, with retention rates improving by 60% after introducing AI-driven personalization.
